Bathroom Lights

Here at Pagazzi Lighting, we know how important it is to choose the right bathroom lights. Bathroom lighting needs to be functional, ideally bright enough for everyday tasks like shaving or applying make-up, but equally ambient enough to create the right atmosphere for a relaxing bath after a long day. Above all, it needs to be safe.

Whether you’re looking for lights for a family bathroom, en-suite, shower, wet room or downstairs cloakroom, you’re sure to find something to suit your tastes and requirements from our stunning range of stylish, IP-rated bathroom light fittings.

What are the options for bathroom lighting?

The best option for bathroom lighting is often multiple lights or a main dimmer light. Depending on the size, shape and layout of your bathroom, as a general rule of thumb it’s a good idea to have a main ceiling light to be used in conjunction with one or more of the area lights listed below, around your mirror for example. Dimming the main light or using the local lighting without the ceiling light can transform the ambience of the room into a more restful space.

  • Bathroom halogen flush or semi-flush mount lights
  • Bathroom wall lights
  • Bathroom strip lights
  • Bathroom spotlights
  • Bathroom cabinet lights
  • Illuminated bathroom mirrors

Flush fitting ceiling downlights are a popular choice for illuminating bathrooms as they are understated, designed with lower ceilings in mind and give an even distribution of light over the whole room. Pagazzi has a stunning array of flush fitting ceiling lights to match every décor scheme from crystal to matt black, LED and polished chrome styles.

Spotlights are another effective way of lighting your bathroom, offering bright and versatile illumination. They can be used to highlight taps and other features and, because they’re adjustable, can be pointed away from the bathtub when you need to relax.

Pagazzi offers a variety of spotlights suitable for bathroom use, with many favourites and best sellers ranging from contemporary polished chrome finishes to semi flush designs in an assortment of circular or bar style fittings.

Other bathroom specific lights in our collection including ceiling pendants, chandelier style fittings, wall lights, contemporary shower downlighters and multi-light bars as well as low-energy LED illuminated mirrors and shaver wall lights.

Polished chrome lights are always a popular choice as they mirror other bathroom features like taps, however an antique brass, bronze or gold fitting can also work in a Victorian or vintage style bathroom. Whatever your preferred décor aesthetic, you can be sure we’ve got it covered.

Light up your bathroom mirror

We offer a range of strip lighting that can be installed above or at either side of your bathroom mirror to provide additional task lighting for applying makeup or shaving.

There are many sleek and simple designs that look perfect in a modern bathroom as well as distinctly showbiz style lights if you’re looking for a touch more glamour.

A pair of wall lights look very effective mounted at either side of the mirror, with some having the added bonus of a built-in electric shaver socket. This type of fitting is best placed around two thirds of the way up the wall.

Every bathroom is different yet, with the right lighting, an average bathroom can be transformed into a stunning space.

Pagazzi Lighting has a wide selection of bathroom lights in stock and ready for immediate dispatch to help make the most of your bathroom.

Bathroom zones and electrical safety

Due to the high levels of water and moisture present in the bathroom, there are certain rules that should be taken into account when choosing lights. Strict European regulations are in place to avoid shorting and electric shocks and any light installed in the bathroom should comply with safety legislation (refer to our IP Safety Guide). The main bathroom light should be operated by a pull cord or light switch that is situated outside the bathroom.

There are 3 lighting zones that are defined by their proximity to water – think bath, shower and taps - each requiring a specifically rated light fitting. Light fittings are assigned an IP rating which indicates the extent of their water resistance, so it’s important to consider the location of each light and ensure the fitting has the correct rating.

Zone 0 falls directly inside the bath or shower and requires a low voltage fitting of up to 12 volts and rated at least IP67, meaning the light is water resistant and can be temporarily submerged.

Zone 1, which falls directly above the bath or shower to a height of 2.25m from the floor, will require a light fitting with a rating of IP44 or higher.

Zone 2 also covers the area over the bath or shower, but above 2.25m (so over Zone 1) and in addition, it applies to the 60cm area around the bath and wash basin. Light fittings in this zone require an IP44 rating or higher.

If you are unsure, our team of lighting specialists or your electrician will be able to help with this. We recommend that your new bathroom lights are professionally installed by a qualified electrician.

As well as our extensive collection of bathroom light fittings, Pagazzi also offers a selection of bathroom cabinets, many with lights and shaver points incorporated, specifically intended for safe use in your bathroom.
