My Latest Buying Trip to Austria... And the Lighting Trends You're About to See at Pagazzi
By Rebecca Pagan · · 4 min read
One of the questions I'm asked most often is, "How do you decide what lighting to sell?"
The answer is simple: we don't sit behind a desk scrolling through catalogues.
A few days ago, I returned from Austria after spending several days meeting with one of Europe's leading lighting manufacturers, viewing hundreds of new products and selecting the collections that will begin arriving in our stores and online for Autumn/Winter 2026 and beyond… It's one of my favourite parts of the job!
While customers only see the finished product on our shelves or website, there's months of work that happens behind the scenes. Every light is chosen individually, and every buying trip is about finding products that combine great design, excellent quality and real value. For more than 45 years, sourcing great lighting has been at the heart of what we do and even though my Mum is now retired, I learnt from the best & take that knowledge with me when I’m selecting the current range! We regularly travels across Europe and beyond to work directly with manufacturers rather than simply choosing from catalogues or uploading spreadsheets of SKUs that mean nothing to us. We get to see what's coming next, understand new technologies before they become mainstream, and hand-pick products we know our customers will love! It's also why you'll often find something different at Pagazzi 💖
Relationships built over decades matter
One thing that has never changed throughout Pagazzi's history is the importance of working with suppliers we trust. After more than four decades in the industry, we've built long-standing relationships with manufacturers whose products we know are beautifully designed, well-engineered and built to last. That gives us confidence when we introduce new collections, because we're not just buying something that looks good in a showroom, we're choosing lighting from companies that have consistently delivered quality year after year. When you buy from Pagazzi, you're benefiting from decades of experience in knowing who produces lighting that's every bit as good as it looks!
The biggest trends coming for Autumn/Winter 2026
Walking around the showroom, a few clear trends stood out. Here are the ones I think you'll be seeing much more of over the coming months 💡
1. Lighting that lets you choose the colour temperature
More and more manufacturers are introducing fittings with built-in CCT (Correlated Colour Temperature) technology. In simple terms, it means one light fitting can produce different shades of white light. Whether you prefer a warm, cosy glow for relaxing, a crisp neutral white for everyday living or a brighter daylight effect for practical spaces, you don't need to choose when you buy the light. Instead, the installer selects your preferred colour temperature during installation, giving you flexibility without changing the fitting itself. It's a clever development that gives you much more control and helps future-proof your lighting if your tastes change.
2. Warmer finishes are taking over
Cool chrome and colder metallics have definitely taken a step back and this season, everything felt warmer. Bronze continues to grow in popularity, soft brushed gold remains incredibly strong, and we're seeing beautiful neutral cream finishes appearing across many collections. These colours work brilliantly with today's interiors, creating spaces that feel calmer, softer and more inviting. They're timeless rather than trendy, which is exactly what we like to see as we believe in quality over quantity!
3. Sculptural LED lighting isn't going anywhere
If you've been wondering whether modern sculptural LED lighting is just a passing trend, I can confidently say it isn't… In fact, we are investing even more into these designs. Today's integrated LED lighting isn't simply functional—it's become artwork in its own right. The latest collections feature flowing curves, elegant geometric shapes and striking centrepieces that create as much visual impact during the day as they do when switched on at night. The technology has matured, the designs continue to improve, and I think these statement pieces will remain popular for many years to come.
4. Dimmable floor lamps are becoming a must-have
One trend I was particularly pleased to see was the rise of stylish dimmable floor lamps as they're incredibly versatile. You don't need an electrician, they instantly change the atmosphere of a room, and they're perfect for creating softer evening lighting without relying solely on your main ceiling light. They're also an excellent option for renters or anyone who wants to refresh a room without making permanent changes…Sometimes adding one beautiful floor lamp can completely transform how a space feels.
Why we love doing this
Buying trips like this are exciting because they remind us why we've spent more than 45 years specialising in lighting. Lighting isn't just practical - it changes the mood of a room, creates atmosphere, highlights your home's personality and often becomes the feature people notice first. Our job is to travel, search, compare, question and carefully select the very best designs so that when you browse our stores or website, you know someone has already done the hard work for you. I can't wait for you to see the new collections arriving over the coming months.. there are some fantastic pieces coming, and I think you're going to love what's next!
